My 3-Phase Presentation Process
I organize the presentation process into three distinct but overlapping phases. Each of these three phases is designed to maximize the impact of your presentations, target specific components of the presentation process, and lead you to the success you desire.
Phase 1: Planning
During the Planning Phase, we go through a strategic planning process to assess your true goals and desired outcomes for the presentation, including:
- Clearly defining and understanding your audience
- Your real purpose in presenting (often unclear or hidden until discovered)
- The types of language, images, and other content essential for your audience
Phase 2: Preparing
The Preparing Phase gets into the nuts and bolts of your presentation itself. We will create the actual materials for your presentation, with a focus on:
- Telling the right story
- Building in takeaways for your audience
- Reaching a meaningful conclusion, high impact ending, or compelling ask
Phase 3: Performing
While working in the Performance Phase, you will rehearse your presentation using my proprietary rehearsal process. You will also be given tools for being mentally and emotionally ready to excel in front of your audience. These performance techniques will allow you to:
- Demonstrate a consistently strong, authentic, and trusted presence on stage
- Influence your audience so that your objectives are met
- Remain confident throughout the presentation – even when answering questions
I offer these three phases of the presentation process as a comprehensive training or I can focus on any one of these phases – depending on your needs and experience. For any of my presentation training, I can work individually with coaching clients, facilitate workshops, or speak to conference audiences.
I utilize an experiential learning environment so that anyone who works with me is actively participating as they build technical skills, create their presentations, and practice performing their presentations. Training and coaching sessions vary in length from two hours to three days, and I am available for ongoing consulting projects.
